Win a Paperback Copy of Tempting the Deputy!

So I just sent off the AAs (the final proofs) of my latest Harlequin Presents - Captive at Her Enemy's Command. This is the second Whittaker sisters book, a sequel to The Virgin's Shock Baby which is out in October... And to celebrate I've decided to do a Giveaway! Yay!

And as luck would have it, I just got a gorgeous package of books and bookmarks from my other lovely publisher Tule, of my Men of Marietta book, Tempting the Deputy. So of course it makes sense to do a giveaway of this book... The original release in March this year was digital only so this is a rare print edition of the story - and I may stick in a few bookmarks too, with details of the other books in the series.

Just enter the Rafflecopter below or on my Heidi Rice Author Page on Facebook to be in with a chance to win it - innit!

NaNo-What Now?? And Book Giveaway News

Box o' Presents!
Writing is always super hard for me... That was until this month. After finishing my second longer book and sending it off to my editor I had only a month to write my next Presents. I had already done six chapters of this book... So I wasn't too panicky.. Yet.  I signed up for NaNoWriMo to help get me motivated. Only thing was, the day before it was due to start I read those first six chapters... And realised I had a problem, the external plot was way too complicated, my hero was a jerk and my heroine was a psychopath!!

I had two choices:

1) Try moulding that lump of crap into something more appealing.

2) Start from scratch.

But I only had a month. And it usually takes me three months to write a book anyway. But then a strange and wonderful thing happened. On the first of November, I just opened a new document and started again. Because I suddenly had a whole new vision for this book. The basics of the external plot were similar, but my heroine was a totally different person. And I soon realised so was my hero, not as ruthless, but just as alpha. And suddenly the words started to flow... And flow... And flow.

And now it's Day 13 of NaNoWriMo and I've written 36k words... And I'm still going folks. And I am LOVING this book. Which means either I'm completely delusional. Or it's actually as good as I think it is.

Here's a sneak peek of my Pinterest board to give you an idea of what it's about.

So now I know. Writing is always hard for me, except on the very rare occasions when it's not – and I turn into Joan Wilder at the beginning of Romancing the Stone. And seriously there is nothing more uplifting. This is good news for me, because I needed something to lift me up right now. And locking myself in my study and ignoring the news and just writing about love and romance and two people who desperately need each other but haven't figured it out yet – and then throwing in a marriage of convenience and a touch of pregnesia to spice things up a bit – is TOTALLY the answer.

In other news, my box of books arrived from Harlequin for my first Classic Presents: Vows They Can't Escape which is out in Jan 2017 in the US and Feb 2017 in the UK... I'm doing a Goodreads giveaway, but will also be doing a couple of giveaways to people signed up to my newsletter list. I'll be arranging that as soon as I finish this book... So if you're not signed up already and you want a chance to win, you can find the sign up form on my Facebook Author Page or my website or from the form on the sidebar.

Here's the giveaway which should be live soon... ish!

So Now You're Back is ALMOST Here! Time for ANOTHER Goodreads Giveaway

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day... I ended up cleaning my study... That said, we did make up for it by going for a walk and sharing a Beetroot and Nut cake (this being trendy Hackney!) over lattes in the park - and watching Tottenham Hotspur beat Man City (an important result if you're married to a North Londoner) - and I now have a spotless study ready to start writing (and crapping it up) again. So not all bad.

Just popping in really though, to say I'm currently awaiting revisions on my first proper Presents novel (yikes!), getting stuck back into my second women's fiction novel, and preparing for the release of the first in NINE days time... As I'm so excited about that, I've just done a Goodreads Giveaway of So Now You're Back which is available Worldwide.

You've got to be in it to win it. So feel free to enter as soon as it goes live.

Psst... Jamie Dornan, The 50 Shades Movie AND a Book Giveaway.

Want to know my top ten reasons why Jamie Dornan is the PERFICK casting for Christian Grey in 50 Shades of Grey: The Movie?

Answer: YES.... Then head on over to the Pink Heart Society today where I have gotten ahold of the coveted Male on Monday post specifically to enlighten people on that very subject.

Answer: NO, I couldn't give a toss about 50 Shades or who plays Christian Grey in the movie... Then head on over to the PHS anyway because I'm giving away a copy of Beach Bar Baby to one lucky commentator.

Bribery works. See you there.

Awards, Book Giveaway and Robert Downey Jr... Oh My!

My Son, my brother & moi at the Irish Embassy in Paris.
Just back from being a glamourpuss in Paris for a few days where I got to wear my posh frock to the Irish Embassy no less (with ma famille). I am including pictorial evidence  -  the photo was taken by my brother's 5-year-old son hence the soft focus (think I may get him to take all my photos come to think of it!)

Now, in other news I got a wonderful email on Tuesday night saying that The Good, the Bad and the Wild (yes that is my Rona nominated book) has now also been nominated for a Booksellers Best Award in the Best Short Contemporary category. Squeeeeee!

To celebrate my nomination, and my general all around gorgeousness I am giving away another copy of Too Close for Comfort, my June Harlequin KISS release, at the Pink Heart Society TODAY. This is a one-day offer, just go leave a comment on my blog about Iron Man 3 and I'll pick a winner tomorrow.

BTW, the winner of my Rafflecopter comp for a copy of The Mile High Club on the blog is:

Jane Linfoot

So Jane, just email me your snail mail addy on heidi@heidi-rice.com and I'll pop it in the post.

Also, watch this space for exciting news about the new direction for the old RIVA editorial in the UK... Plans are being worked on now, but the new line will be launching soon and as soon as I can I will give you all the goss...

I love this. Loved the characters, Ryder was amazing and not what I expected at all and Kate was too. I loved how they were together, how things played out and how things turned out. Amazing story that gives hope and love to the holiday season.

Another First Night Giveaway!!

I'm on Lucy Monroe's blog today with an excerpt of On the First Night of Christmas.. Would love to know what reader's think and am doing a giveaway to one lucky commentator, so come on over and join me there.

In other news am under the cosh trying to meet December deadline for latest book.... Still in hand-to-hand combat with my sagging middle. Always the hardest part of the book I find. Especially if your hero and heroine refuse to cooperate! Grrr.

Heidi talks Turkey.... Or rather Christmas Stories!

I'm over at the Pink Heart Society talking about why I love writing Christmas Stories as a romance writer... And it may not be the reason you think. So pop on over and leave a comment and you could be in with a chance to win a copy of my current Christmas extravaganza On the First Night of Christmas.

Also found this lovely review of it on The Long and Short Reviews blog. Here's a snippet of what they said:

'This is a fast paced romance and things heat up quickly between Cassie and Jace....The typical holiday activities take on a delightful turn as Cassie takes Jace shopping and to a get-together of friends for Christmas. There were some very tearful moments as well, where I worried for the happy ever after of these two, but I was delighted to see finally happen between them. I recommend this one to be read with a box of tissues at hand.'

So there you have it, a true Christmas tear-jerker!
